Steps:
- Wash orange really well. Do not peel.
- Chop whole orange as finely as possible with a sharp knife (don't be tempted to blizt, makes it too mushy). Discard seeds (pips).
- Open jar, place sauce in bowl, mash a little.
- Add orange.
- Stir with fork to combine well.
Tips:
- For a sweeter relish, add more sugar or honey to taste.
- If you like a tarter relish, add more vinegar or lemon juice to taste.
- For a spicier relish, add a pinch of cayenne pepper or red pepper flakes.
- For a more textured relish, chop the cranberries and oranges coarsely instead of finely.
- Use fresh, ripe cranberries for the best flavor.
- If you don't have fresh cranberries, you can use frozen cranberries. Just thaw them before using.
- This relish can be made ahead of time and stored in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks.
Conclusion:
Cranberry orange relish is a delicious and versatile condiment that can be enjoyed in many different ways. It's perfect for topping grilled meats, poultry, or fish. It can also be used as a spread for sandwiches or crackers. And it's a great addition to a cheese plate. No matter how you choose to enjoy it, cranberry orange relish is sure to be a hit.
