Fantastic bars that have a lot of flexibility. You can adapt the recipe to your liking. Great for hikes, long road trips and camping as they store well and keep fairly long - unless you eat them all! Steps:
- In a bowl mix oats, flour and baking soda. Add butter and honey and mix them well. Finally, add the dried fruits and mix well. Apply butter to the baking tray and transfer the granola mix to it. With the help of a spatula you can shape it in a square. Flatten the mixture. Bake it for 15 minutes at 350°F or till it turns golden brown.
Tips:
- Use a variety of oats. Old-fashioned oats, quick-cooking oats, and steel-cut oats can all be used to make granola bars. Old-fashioned oats will give your bars a chewier texture, while quick-cooking oats will make them softer. Steel-cut oats will give your bars a nutty flavor and a hearty texture.
- Add your favorite mix-ins. Nuts, seeds, dried fruits, and chocolate chips are all popular mix-ins for granola bars. You can also add spices, such as cinnamon or nutmeg, to give your bars a unique flavor.
- Don't overcook the granola bars. Granola bars should be baked until they are golden brown and set, but not too dry. Overcooked granola bars will be hard and crumbly.
- Let the granola bars cool completely before cutting them. This will help them to hold their shape and prevent them from crumbling.
Conclusion:
Granola bars are a delicious and healthy snack that can be enjoyed by people of all ages. They are easy to make and can be customized to your own taste. With a little creativity, you can make granola bars that are both delicious and nutritious.
