QUICK HOT FUDGE SAUCE

Quick Hot Fudge Sauce image

My mom used to make this when I was a kid. Last week, DH had eaten all the Magic Shell ( :) ) so I whipped out my cookbook & whipped this up -- it's just as I remembered! Quick, and with such a good flavor. While it's hot, it's kind of thin, like Hershey's syrup consistency-wise, but I like it best cold out of the fridge -- it's thick and pours sloooowly over the ice cream (or cake or whatever). Yum!

HOT FUDGE SAUCE FOR EASY ICE CREAM

Hot Fudge Sauce for Easy Ice Cream image

A scoop of ice cream is always improved by a drizzle of hot fudge -- make your own in minutes in the microwave.

Provided by Martha Stewart

Categories     Food & Cooking     Dessert & Treats Recipes

Number Of Ingredients 4

1/3 cup light corn syrup
1 cup heavy cream
8 ounces chopped semisweet chocolate
Easy Ice Cream

Steps:

  • In a medium microwave-safe measuring cup or bowl, combine corn syrup and heavy cream. Microwave on high 4 minutes, stirring halfway through. Stir in chocolate. Let stand 2 minutes, then whisk until smooth. Serve warm over ice cream.

Nutrition Facts : Calories 141 g, Fat 10 g, Protein 1 g

Tips:

  • Use high-quality chocolate. The type of chocolate you use will greatly affect the taste of your sauce. Look for a semisweet or bittersweet chocolate with a cocoa content of at least 60%.
  • Don't let the sauce boil. Boiling the sauce will cause it to become grainy. Instead, heat it over medium-low heat and stir constantly until it is smooth and creamy.
  • Use a double boiler. A double boiler is a great way to melt chocolate without scorching it. Fill the bottom pot with simmering water and place the top pot, containing the chocolate, over the water. Stir constantly until the chocolate is melted.
  • Add flavorings. Once the chocolate is melted, you can add flavorings such as vanilla extract, cinnamon, or chili powder. Get creative and experiment with different flavors to find your favorite combination.
  • Serve warm. Hot fudge sauce is best served warm. You can reheat it in the microwave or on the stovetop over low heat.

Conclusion:

Hot fudge sauce is a delicious and versatile dessert topping. It can be used on ice cream, cakes, brownies, and even fruit. With just a few simple ingredients, you can make your own hot fudge sauce at home. So next time you're craving a chocolatey treat, give this recipe a try.
