8 hot dogs

Number Of Ingredients 7

2 c warm water
2 pkg yeast
3/4 c sugar
2 tsp salt
1/4 c crisco
1 egg
6 1/2 - 7 c flour

Steps:

  • 1. Dissolve yeast in warm water.
  • 2. Add sugar, egg, salt, and Crisco. Mix well.
  • 3. Add flour until dough becomes easy to handle.
  • 4. Place in greased bowl, greased side up. Cover loosely with Saran Wrap and place in refrigerator overnight.
  • 5. About 2 - 3 hours before needed, take dough out and form into balls. Let rise until double in size, then bake for 12 - 15 minutes at 400 degrees.

Tips:

  • For a crispier crust, brush the tops of the rolls with melted butter before baking.
  • If you don't have a baking stone, you can bake the rolls on a greased baking sheet.
  • To make sure the rolls are cooked through, insert a toothpick into the center of a roll. If it comes out clean, the rolls are done.
