Tips:

  • Use high-quality ingredients. The better the ingredients, the better the meatballs will be. Look for ground beef that is at least 80% lean, and use fresh bread crumbs, eggs, and Parmesan cheese.
  • Season the meatballs well. Don't be afraid to add plenty of garlic powder, onion powder, and Italian seasoning. You can also add a pinch of red pepper flakes for a little spice.
  • Cook the meatballs thoroughly. Make sure the meatballs are cooked all the way through before adding them to the sauce. You can check by inserting a meat thermometer into the center of a meatball; it should read 165 degrees Fahrenheit.
  • Use a good quality tomato sauce. You can either make your own or use a store-bought sauce. If you're using a store-bought sauce, be sure to doctor it up with some fresh garlic, onion, and basil.
  • Assemble the sandwiches carefully. Place the meatballs on the bread, top with sauce, cheese, and any other desired toppings. Be careful not to overload the sandwiches, or they will be difficult to eat.
