Steps:
- 1. Heat oil in large deep skillet or Dutch oven on medium heat. Add celery, onion, chicken and sausage; cook and stir 7 minutes or until meat is lightly browned. 2. Stir in water and tomatoes. Bring to boil. Add Jambalaya Mix; mix well. Return to boil. Reduce heat to low; cover and simmer 25 minutes or until rice is tender, stirring occasionally. 3. Remove from heat. Let stand 5 minutes. Fluff with fork before serving.
Tips:
- Use high-quality ingredients: Fresh vegetables, flavorful spices, and succulent shrimp will elevate your jambalaya to the next level.
- Don't overcrowd the pot: Cooking too much jambalaya in one pot can result in uneven cooking and mushy rice. Use a large pot or cook in batches if necessary.
- Toast the rice: Toasting the rice before cooking adds a nutty flavor and helps prevent it from becoming mushy.
- Use a flavorful stock: Chicken or seafood stock adds depth and richness to the jambalaya. If you don't have any on hand, use water and add a bouillon cube or two.
- Cook the jambalaya slowly: Low and slow cooking allows the flavors to meld and develop.
- Don't stir the jambalaya too much: Stirring too much can break up the rice and make the jambalaya mushy.
- Let the jambalaya rest before serving: Allowing the jambalaya to rest for a few minutes before serving helps the flavors to settle and the rice to absorb the liquid.
Conclusion:
This embellished Zatarain's jambalaya recipe is a delicious and easy-to-follow dish that is perfect for a weeknight meal or a special occasion. With its bold flavors and vibrant colors, this jambalaya is sure to impress your family and friends. So next time you're looking for a flavorful and satisfying meal, give this recipe a try!
