Time 1h15m

Number Of Ingredients 4

1 stick unsalted butter (1/2 cup) (salted butter works fine if you prefer a little salt in your treats)
15 jumbo marshmallows
1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
5 1/2 cups rice cereal

Steps:

  • Measure your rice cereal out in a large mixing bowl. Set it aside.
  • Spray a large cooking pot with non stick spray. Next, slice your butter and add it to the pot. Cook on low until the butter is melted.
  • Add your jumbo marshmallows and cook them on medium-low until they are completely dissolved in the butter. Be careful not to raise the temperature too much. Cook them low and slow while frequently stirring.
  • Once the marshmallows are completely melted add the vanilla extract and stir well.
  • Pour over the rice cereal. Using a spatula mix it well and then transfer it to a greased 9 inch pan.

Time 1h30m

Yield 16

Number Of Ingredients 9

cooking spray
½ cup unsalted butter
½ cup sweetened condensed milk
1 (10 ounce) package miniature marshmallows
1 cup miniature marshmallows
1 tablespoon vanilla extract
1 teaspoon fine sea salt
6 cups crispy rice cereal (such as Rice Krispies®)
1 pinch Sea Salt, gray

Steps:

  • Grease an 8x8x2-inch pan with cooking spray.
  • Melt butter in a large pot over medium heat. Add sweetened condensed milk. Stir with a rubber spatula until butter and milk are uniformly combined and small bubbles are forming in the center of the mixture, about 2 minutes. (When you first begin stirring they will look separated.) Add the bag of marshmallows and stir until melted and smooth. Add vanilla extract and salt and stir again. Remove from heat.
  • Stir rice cereal and remaining cup of marshmallows into the pot to combine. Transfer to the prepared pan and press down lightly with a sheet of plastic wrap; don't pack them down too hard or they will lose their inherently soft and gooey texture. Sprinkle with flaky sea salt.
  • Let set up on the counter for at least 1 hour. Cut into 16 squares.

Tips:

  • Use fresh marshmallows. Fresh marshmallows will give your crispy rice treats a light and fluffy texture. Avoid using old or stale marshmallows, which can make your treats tough and chewy.
  • Don't overcook the marshmallows. Overcooked marshmallows will make your crispy rice treats hard and brittle. Cook the marshmallows just until they are melted and smooth. You should be able to see a few small bubbles forming on the surface.
  • Add your favorite mix-ins. Crispy rice treats are a great way to use up leftover candy, cookies, or cereal. Try adding chopped nuts, dried fruit, chocolate chips, or sprinkles to your treats.
  • Let the treats cool completely before cutting them. This will help them hold their shape and prevent them from crumbling.
  • Store the treats in an airtight container at room temperature. Crispy rice treats will stay fresh for up to 2 weeks.

Conclusion:

Crispy rice treats are a delicious and easy-to-make snack that can be enjoyed by people of all ages. With a few simple tips, you can make crispy rice treats that are perfect for any occasion. So next time you're looking for a sweet treat, give crispy rice treats a try!
