Tips:

  • Use a variety of apples. This will give your applesauce bars a more complex flavor. Some good options include Granny Smith, Honeycrisp, and Pink Lady apples.
  • Peel and core your apples before cooking them. This will save you time and make the applesauce smoother.
  • Cook the apples until they are very soft. This will make them easier to mash and will also help the flavors to develop.
  • Add sugar and spices to taste. The amount of sugar and spices you add will depend on your personal preferences. Start with a small amount and add more to taste.
  • Let the applesauce cool completely before using it in the bars. This will help the bars to set properly.
  • Use a 9x13 inch baking pan for the bars. This will give you a nice thick layer of applesauce.
  • Bake the bars at 350 degrees Fahrenheit for 30-35 minutes. The bars are done when they are golden brown on top and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  • Let the bars cool completely before cutting them into squares. This will help them to hold their shape.
