- Note: Dry figs may be substituted. Mix with 1/4 cup of hot water and allow to stand while preparing the rest of the batter.
Tips:
- To ensure light and fluffy scones, use cold butter and buttermilk. The cold butter will create pockets of steam during baking, resulting in a flaky texture. Buttermilk adds a slight tang and helps keep the scones moist.
- Do not overmix the dough. Overmixing will result in tough scones. Mix just until the ingredients are combined and the dough comes together.
- Handle the dough gently. Over-handling can make the scones tough.
- Chill the dough before baking. Chilling the dough helps develop the flavor and makes it easier to handle.
- Bake the scones in a hot oven. A hot oven will help the scones rise quickly and create a crispy exterior.
- Serve the scones warm with your favorite toppings. Scones are best served warm from the oven. They can be enjoyed with butter, jam, honey, or clotted cream.
Conclusion:
Fig scones are a delicious and versatile treat that can be enjoyed for breakfast, brunch, or dessert. With their sweet and slightly tangy flavor, fig scones are sure to be a hit with everyone. Follow these tips to make perfect fig scones every time.
