Time 2h30m

Number Of Ingredients 9

Kosher salt, about 1/2 teaspoon per pound of meat
Juice of one lime
1 tablespoon soy sauce
A splash of beer
2 tablespoons sugar
1 teaspoon ground cumin
1 teaspoon fresh ground black pepper
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon smoked paprika

Steps:

  • Gather the ingredients.
  • Season the meat with kosher salt on both sides. Use about 1/2 teaspoon per pound of meat, or about as much as you would add at the table if the meat were served unseasoned. Place in the refrigerator for at least two hours, or overnight.
  • When the meat has finished dry-brining, prepare the marinade. Place a large zip-top bag into a bowl and fold the edges of the bag over the edges of the bowl. Add all remaining ingredients and stir to combine.
  • Place the steak in the bag and coat it with the marinade. Seal the bag most of the way, squeeze out as much air as you can, then fully seal. Place in the refrigerator for about 30 minutes.
  • Grill or pan sear to your desired temperature.

TO-DIE-FOR CHICKEN FAJITA MARINADE

To-Die-For Chicken Fajita Marinade image

Great marinade for chicken fajitas on the outdoor grill or the George Foreman. Smells great! Update: volume of oil for the marinade has been reduced.

Provided by londongavchick

Categories     Chicken Breast

Time 1h

Yield 8 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 9

2 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil
1/4 cup water
1/2 cup lime juice
1 tablespoon minced garlic
2 tablespoons chili powder
1 tablespoon cumin
2 teaspoons pepper
2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
2 lbs boneless skinless chicken breasts

Steps:

  • Mix first seven ingredients and pour into ziplock bag with chicken breasts.
  • Marinade for 1/2 to a few hours but chicken is overpowered by the lime juice if left too long.
  • Grill each breast until no longer pink in the middle--about 6 minutes on each side for the George Foreman.
  • Remove from grill and wrap in aluminum foil.
  • Let rest for ten minutes before slicing.
  • Serve with tortillas, sauteed onions and peppers.

Tips:

  • Choose the right cut of meat: Flank steak, skirt steak, and chicken are all popular choices for fajitas. These cuts are relatively thin and cook quickly, making them ideal for fajitas. Avoid using thicker cuts of meat, as they will take longer to cook and may not be as tender.
  • Slice the meat thinly: This will help the meat to cook evenly and quickly. Aim for slices that are about 1/4-inch thick.
  • Use a flavorful marinade: A good marinade will help to tenderize the meat and add flavor. There are many different fajita marinade recipes available, so feel free to experiment and find one that you like. Some popular ingredients in fajita marinades include lime juice, olive oil, cumin, chili powder, and garlic.
  • Let the meat marinate for at least 30 minutes: This will give the marinade time to penetrate the meat and flavor it. If you are short on time, you can marinate the meat for as little as 15 minutes, but the longer you marinate it, the more flavorful it will be.
  • Cook the meat over high heat: This will help to sear the meat and lock in the juices. Cook the meat for 2-3 minutes per side, or until it is cooked to your desired doneness.
  • Serve the fajitas immediately: Fajitas are best served hot, so make sure to have all of your toppings and sides ready before you start cooking the meat.

Conclusion:

Fajitas are a delicious and easy-to-make meal that can be enjoyed by people of all ages. With a little planning and preparation, you can make fajitas that are sure to impress your family and friends. So next time you're looking for a quick and easy weeknight meal, give fajitas a try.
