We love this combination of pungent flavors. The original version was submitted by Kelly O'Rourke on allrecipes.com however I lightened it a bit by using reduced fat cream cheese, less oil and then added our preferred amounts of seasonings. Allow at least 2 hours for chilling time.

Tips:

  • Choose high-quality feta cheese: Use a creamy and flavorful feta cheese for the best results. A good quality feta will have a tangy and slightly salty flavor.
  • Use fresh herbs: Fresh herbs like parsley, dill, and mint add a vibrant flavor to the feta cheese balls. If you don't have fresh herbs on hand, you can use dried herbs, but they won't be as flavorful.
  • Chill the feta cheese mixture before forming the balls: This will help the cheese balls hold their shape better when you fry them.
  • Use a light touch when forming the cheese balls: Overworking the cheese mixture will make the cheese balls tough.
  • Don't overcrowd the pan when frying the cheese balls: This will cause the cheese balls to stick together and not cook evenly.
  • Serve the feta cheese balls while they are still warm: This is when they are at their best. You can serve them with a variety of dipping sauces, such as tzatziki sauce, marinara sauce, or honey mustard.

Conclusion:

Feta cheese balls are a delicious and easy-to-make appetizer that is perfect for any occasion. They are crispy on the outside and creamy on the inside, with a tangy and flavorful filling. With a few simple tips, you can make perfect feta cheese balls every time. So next time you are looking for a quick and easy appetizer, give these feta cheese balls a try.
