Tips:

  • Choose ripe and flavorful peaches: The quality of your peaches will greatly impact the taste of your syrup. Look for peaches that are fragrant, have a deep yellow or orange color, and give slightly when pressed.
  • Use a heavy-bottomed saucepan: This will help to distribute the heat evenly and prevent the syrup from burning.
  • Don't overcrowd the saucepan: If you're using a lot of peaches, work in batches to avoid overcrowding the saucepan. This will help the peaches cook evenly and prevent them from becoming mushy.
  • Simmer the syrup gently: Bring the syrup to a simmer over medium heat, then reduce the heat to low and simmer gently for 30-45 minutes, or until the syrup has thickened. This will help to develop the flavor of the syrup and prevent it from becoming too thick or syrupy.
  • Strain the syrup: Once the syrup has thickened, strain it through a fine-mesh sieve to remove any solids. This will give you a smooth, glossy syrup.
  • Store the syrup properly: Store the syrup in a clean, airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks. You can also freeze the syrup for up to 6 months.

Conclusion:

Fresh peach syrup is a delicious and versatile topping for pancakes, waffles, french toast, ice cream, yogurt, and more. It's also a great way to use up ripe peaches. With just a few simple ingredients and a little bit of time, you can make your own fresh peach syrup at home. So next time you have a craving for something sweet, give this recipe a try. You won't be disappointed!
