ALMOST-FAMOUS FRIED PICKLES

Almost-Famous Fried Pickles image

In this month's issue of Food Network magazine, they've attempted to duplicate Texas Roadhouse's famous fried pickles with dipping sauce. The intro tells of a restaurant manager's wife who had a craving for them (and a bun in the oven, perhaps?), so these were created. They became such a hit, they are now served at all of their locations. Yippee Ky Ay!

Tips:

  • Choose fresh, unwaxed cucumbers for the best flavor and texture.
  • Slice the cucumbers evenly so that they cook evenly.
  • Soak the pickle slices in a buttermilk or egg wash before coating them in breading. This will help the breading adhere to the pickles.
  • Use a light hand when breading the pickles. Too much breading will make them greasy and heavy.
  • Fry the pickles in hot oil until they are golden brown and crispy. Don't overcrowd the pan, or the pickles will not cook evenly.
  • Serve the pickles hot with your favorite dipping sauce.

Conclusion:

Fried pickles are a delicious and easy-to-make appetizer or side dish. With a few simple ingredients and a little bit of time, you can create a crispy, flavorful snack that everyone will love. So next time you're looking for something new to try, give fried pickles a try. You won't be disappointed!
