FRUIT SALSA WITH CINNAMON TORTILLA CHIPS

Fruit Salsa with Cinnamon Tortilla Chips image

The fun of this recipe is that it can be tailored to your tastes. I'm a 'throw it in and see how it turns out' kind of cook, so please adjust the recipe to fit your own tastes. This recipe is best used immediately, as fresh fruit doesn't keep well in the refrigerator. If you prefer baked cinnamon chips, arrange the tortilla triangles in a single layer on a lightly greased baking sheet. Spray with cooking spray, sprinkle with sugar and cinnamon, and bake 5 to 10 minutes in an oven preheated to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Watch them closely so they don't burn!

Tips:

  • Choose ripe, fresh fruit: The quality of your fruit will greatly impact the flavor of your salsa. Choose ripe, juicy fruits that are free of blemishes.
  • Use a variety of fruits: Don't be afraid to experiment with different fruits in your salsa. Some popular combinations include mango, pineapple, strawberry, and watermelon.
  • Add some spice: If you like a little heat in your salsa, add some chopped jalapeño or serrano pepper. You can also add a pinch of cayenne pepper or chili powder.
  • Use fresh herbs: Fresh herbs can add a lot of flavor to your salsa. Try adding some chopped cilantro, mint, or basil.
  • Don't over-process the salsa: Salsa is best when it has some texture. Don't over-process it in the food processor or blender. You want the salsa to be chunky, not smooth.
  • Chill the salsa before serving: Chilled salsa is more refreshing and flavorful. Cover the salsa and refrigerate it for at least 30 minutes before serving.
  • Serve with tortilla chips, pita chips, or vegetables: Salsa is a great dip for tortilla chips, pita chips, or vegetables. You can also use it as a topping for tacos, burritos, or grilled chicken.

Conclusion:

Fruit salsa is a delicious and healthy snack or appetizer. It's easy to make and can be customized to your own taste preferences. So next time you're looking for something refreshing and flavorful to eat, give fruit salsa a try.
