Time 20m

Number Of Ingredients 5

1 pkg buttermilk-style salad dressing mix
1/2 medium cabbage, shredded
1 c shredded red cabbage
1 c coarsely chopped walnuts, toasted
2 red apples , unpeeled and slices

Steps:

  • 1. Prepare salad dressing mix according to package directions. Refrigerate for 30 minutes; combine remaining ingredients in a large bowl. Add 1-1 1/2 cups salad dressing. Toss well. Cover and chill. Makes 10 servings.

Tips:

  • Use a sharp knife or mandoline to thinly slice the cabbage and other vegetables for even cooking and a crisp texture.
  • For a sweeter coleslaw, use a combination of green and red cabbage. The red cabbage adds a slightly sweet flavor to the salad.
  • If you don't have mayonnaise on hand, you can substitute sour cream or Greek yogurt. Just be sure to adjust the seasonings to taste.
  • For a tangy coleslaw, add a splash of vinegar or lemon juice. You can also add a bit of mustard or horseradish for a more savory flavor.
  • If you're making coleslaw ahead of time, be sure to drain off any excess liquid before serving. This will help prevent the coleslaw from becoming watery.

Conclusion:

Fruited coleslaw is a refreshing and versatile side dish that can be enjoyed all year round. It's perfect for potlucks, picnics, and barbecues. With its sweet, tangy, and crunchy flavors, fruited coleslaw is sure to be a hit with everyone at your table.
