SIDE CAR MARTINI

1/2 cup sugar
1 lime, zested
1 lime wedge
10 ounces cognac (recommended: Hennessy)
4 ounces Triple Sec liqueur (recommended: Cointreau)
4 ounces sweet and sour mix
4 ounces Limoncello
2 ounces lime juice
Ice

Steps:

  • Chill 4 martini glasses. In a small shallow dish combine the sugar and the lime zest. Run the lime wedge around the rim of each glass. Dip in the sugar and zest mixture.
  • In a cocktail shaker mix the cognac, Triple Sec, sweet and sour mix, Limoncello, and lime juice over ice. Shake to chill.
  • Pour the Side Car Martinis into the glasses and serve immediately.

½ fluid ounce freshly squeezed lemon juice
½ fluid ounce Cointreau or triple sec
1 fluid ounce brandy
1 lemon wedge

Steps:

  • Fill a cocktail shaker 3/4 full with ice cubes. Pour in lemon juice, Cointreau, and brandy. Cover and shake vigorously for about 30 seconds until the outside of the shaker becomes cold and frosty. Strain into a martini glass and garnish with a wedge of lemon.

1 orange slice
2 quarter-inch-thick slices peeled fresh ginger
1 one-inch piece orange zest
2 ounces brandy
1 ounce Cointreau
2 tablespoons lemon juice
2 teaspoons pure maple syrup
Ice

Steps:

  • Place sugar on a plate. Run orange slice around the rim of a glass; rotate rim in sugar. Muddle ginger in a cocktail shaker. Add orange zest, brandy, Cointreau, lemon juice, maple syrup, and ice; shake. Strain into glass.

Freshly squeezed lemon juice
Sugar
1 cup Cognac or good brandy
1/2 cup Triple Sec or Cointreau
1/4 cup freshly squeezed lemon juice
Maraschino cherries or lemon peel, to garnish

Steps:

  • If you want to frost the glasses, dip the rim or 4 martini glasses in a shallow plate of lemon juice and then in the sugar. Allow to dry for 15 minutes.
  • Combine the Cognac, Triple Sec, and lemon juice in a pitcher. Pour some into a cocktail shaker with ice, shake well and pour into the glasses. Garnish with a cherry or lemon peel.

6 tablespoons sugar, plus more for glasses
Juice of 4 limes, plus 2 wedges for glasses and twists for garnish
6 tablespoons boiling water
1/2 cup brandy
3 tablespoons Cointreau
Ice cubes

Steps:

  • Place sugar in a saucer. Moisten the rim of a martini glass using a lime wedge. Dip rim in sugar; repeat with second glass. Set aside.
  • In a cocktail shaker, stir together sugar and water until sugar is dissolved. Stir in brandy, Cointreau, and lime juice. Fill with ice cubes, and shake well. Strain into prepared glasses, and serve with a lime twist.
