"GORP" is actually an acronym that means Good Old Raisins and Peanuts. These "cookies" aim to be a cheaper on-the-go meal/snack option than something prepackaged like a Cliff Bar. This recipe is also vegan, if you groove that way.

Tips:

  • Choose the Right Chocolate: Use a high-quality semisweet or bittersweet chocolate for a rich and decadent flavor.
  • Get the Right Ratio of Wet to Dry Ingredients: Too much flour can make the cookies dry and crumbly, while too much butter can make them greasy. Follow the recipe carefully to ensure the correct balance.
  • Chill the Dough: Chilling the dough before baking helps the cookies hold their shape and prevents them from spreading too much.
  • Bake the Cookies at the Right Temperature: Cookies should be baked at a moderate temperature (350°F) to ensure they cook evenly throughout without burning.
  • Watch the Baking Time: Keep a close eye on the cookies while they're baking to prevent them from overbaking. Overbaked cookies will be dry and crumbly.
  • Let the Cookies Cool Completely: Allow the cookies to cool completely on a wire rack before enjoying them. This helps them to set and develop their full flavor.

Conclusion:

With a few simple ingredients and a little bit of time, you can create delicious and satisfying GORP cookies at home. These cookies are perfect for a quick snack, a dessert, or a packed lunch. Choose your favorite combination of nuts, seeds, and dried fruits to create a unique and flavorful treat that everyone will love.
