1 ½ cups white sugar
1 cup softened butter
2 eggs
2 ¾ cups all-purpose flour
2 teaspoons cream of tartar
1 teaspoon baking soda
¼ teaspoon salt
2 tablespoons white sugar
2 teaspoons ground cinnamon

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 400 degrees F (200 degrees C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or lightly grease.
  • Beat 1 1/2 cups white sugar, butter, and eggs together in a bowl using an electric mixer until smooth and creamy. Combine flour, cream of tartar, baking soda, and salt in a separate bowl; stir into creamed butter mixture until dough holds together.

1 cup butter or margarine, softened
2 cups sugar
2 eggs
3/4 cup milk
1 teaspoon vanilla
3 3/4 cup all purpose flour
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 cup chopped nuts

Steps:

  • In mixing bowl cream butter and sugar till light and fluffy. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each. Blend in milk and vanilla. Thoroughly stir together flour, baking soda and salt. Stir into creamed mixture and nuts.
  • Then put 2 inches apart on greased cookie sheet. Lightly flatten balls with bottom of tumbler.
  • Bake 375 degrees F for 10 to 12 minutes or till done.

They were always the most fun cookies to make growing up, and the the yummiest cookies. .This is a simple recipe.. do not substitute the shortning.. that is what makes the best cookie.

1 cup Crisco shortening
1 1/2 cups sugar
2 large eggs
1 teaspoon baking soda
2 teaspoons cream of tartar
1/2 teaspoon salt
2 3/4 cups flour
1/8 cup sugar, for cookie coating
1/4 cup cinnamon, for cookie coating

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 400 degrees.
  • mix sugar, eggs, shortening, salt until creamy.
  • add baking soda, cream of tarter and slowly mix flour in until it is a nice dough.
