Tips:

  • Use fresh strawberries when they are in season for the best flavor.
  • If you don't have fresh strawberries, you can use frozen strawberries that have been thawed and drained.
  • Make sure the butter is cold before you cut it into the flour mixture. This will help to create a flaky crust.
  • Don't overmix the dough. Overmixing will make the crust tough.
  • Chill the dough for at least 30 minutes before rolling it out. This will help to prevent the dough from shrinking in the oven.
  • Bake the shortcakes until they are golden brown. Overbaking will make them dry.
  • Serve the shortcakes warm with whipped cream and strawberries.
