Tips:

  • Choose the right rice. Different types of rice have different textures and flavors. For this recipe, a long-grain rice like basmati or jasmine is a good choice.
  • Rinse the rice before cooking. This helps to remove the starch from the rice, which can make it sticky.
  • Use the right amount of water. The amount of water you use will depend on the type of rice you are cooking. For long-grain rice, a good rule of thumb is to use 1 1/2 cups of water for every cup of rice.
  • Bring the water to a boil before adding the rice. This helps to prevent the rice from sticking to the bottom of the pot.
  • Reduce the heat to low and cover the pot. This will help the rice to cook evenly.
  • Do not stir the rice while it is cooking. This can break up the rice and make it mushy.
  • Let the rice rest for a few minutes before serving. This allows the rice to absorb any remaining moisture.

Conclusion:

This grandma's rice dish is a simple but delicious side dish that can be served with a variety of main courses. It is a great way to use up leftover rice, and it is also a good option for busy weeknights. With a few simple ingredients and a little bit of time, you can have a flavorful and satisfying dish that the whole family will enjoy.
