I am guessing on times as I haven't had a chance to make this yet since we still have several feet of snow on!!! (Doesn't include marinating time.) **Made this last night on the griddle pan on the stovetop. Loved it and can't wait to try this on the charcoal grill... Light, filling and flavorful!

Yield Makes 2 Servings

Number Of Ingredients 7

3/4 cup coarsely chopped cantaloupe
1/4 cup chopped onion
2 tablespoons chopped fresh cilantro
4 teaspoons olive oil
1 tablespoon fresh lime juice
1 teaspoon minced seeded jalapeño chili
2 5- to 6-ounce fresh tuna steaks (about 1/2 inch thick)

Steps:

  • Prepare barbecue (medium-high heat). Mix cantaloupe, onion, cilantro, 2 teaspoons oil, lime juice and jalapeño chili in small bowl. Season salsa to taste with salt and pepper. Let stand 15 minutes.
  • Meanwhile, brush tuna steaks on both sides with remaining 2 teaspoons olive oil and sprinkle with salt and pepper. Grill tuna until just opaque in center, about 3 minutes per side.
  • Transfer tuna to plates. Spoon salsa alongside and serve.

Tips:

  • Choose the right tuna steaks. Look for steaks that are about 1 inch thick and have a deep red color. Avoid steaks that are thin or have a lot of white streaks.
  • Marinate the tuna steaks before grilling. This will help to add flavor and moisture to the fish. You can use a simple marinade made with olive oil, lemon juice, herbs, and spices.
  • Grill the tuna steaks over high heat. This will help to sear the outside of the fish and keep the inside moist. Cook the steaks for about 2-3 minutes per side, or until they are cooked to your desired doneness.
  • Make the grape and caper salsa while the tuna steaks are grilling. This salsa is a great way to add a pop of flavor and freshness to the dish. Simply combine grapes, capers, red onion, parsley, and a vinaigrette dressing.
  • Serve the grilled tuna steaks with the grape and caper salsa. You can also serve the steaks with roasted vegetables, rice, or quinoa.

Conclusion:

Grilled tuna steaks with grape and caper salsa is a delicious and healthy meal that is perfect for a summer cookout. The tuna steaks are grilled to perfection and the salsa is a great way to add a pop of flavor and freshness to the dish. This recipe is sure to be a hit with your family and friends.
