Time 4h10m

Number Of Ingredients 6

4 cups water
6 oz Orange Jello Mix
3 ounce instant vanilla pudding
11 ounce can Mandarin oranges, drained
1/2 of a 20 ounce can of Pineapple chunks, drained
One 8 ounce container cool whip

Steps:

  • Mix together 4 cups of water, orange jello mix, and vanilla pudding mix in a sauce pan. Bring to a boil, stirring the whole time to keep clumps from forming. Once it starts to boil, remove from heat. Pour into a heat-resistant container (I usually use a glass baking dish), cover with plastic wrap and place in the fridge for about four hours. Remove from fridge and break up the jello into chunks. Place in a large bowl. Add in the pineapple, mandarin oranges, and whipped cream and mix around until everything is combined. Keep refrigerated until you are ready to serve.

MANDARIN ORANGE JELLO SALAD

Mandarin Orange Jello Salad image

This is one of the sides that is always served when my family gets together. It also works well as a dessert. The combination may sound strange but it is really good. I sometimes make it somewhat "healthier" by using sugar free and low fat options. Normally I try not to make it with instant pudding but it still tastes great if made with instant pudding. Preparation time includes cooling.

Tips:

- **Use fresh oranges:** Fresh oranges provide the best flavor and texture to the salad. If you don't have fresh oranges, you can use canned mandarin oranges, but be sure to drain them well. - **Choose a good quality gelatin:** The quality of the gelatin will affect the final texture of the salad. Look for a gelatin that is clear and has a mild flavor. - **Chill the salad thoroughly:** The salad needs to be chilled for at least 4 hours, or overnight, before serving. This will allow the gelatin to set properly and the flavors to meld. - **Garnish the salad before serving:** Before serving, garnish the salad with additional orange segments, whipped cream, or chopped nuts. This will add a touch of elegance and make the salad more visually appealing.

Conclusion:

Gwyn's Orange Jello Salad is a classic recipe that is perfect for any occasion. It is easy to make, delicious, and refreshing. With its combination of sweet oranges, tangy lemon, and creamy whipped cream, this salad is sure to be a hit at your next party or potluck.
