Steps:
- In a pot over high heat, brown meat on all sides. Cover with water and add bouillon cubes. Cook curry powder in 1 teaspoons sesame or peanut oil to get rid of the raw taste and add it to the meat. Cook covered for 1 1/2 hours. Add vegetables and cook until potatoes and carrots are tender. After stew is cooked, mix flour, and cold water well, using wire whisk to remove all lumps, and stir it into stew. Cook, stirring constantly, until stew thickens. Serve over steamed rice. IN A SLOW-COOKER: Mix all ingredients together except flour in large crockpot. Cook on high 4 to 6 hours or on low for 8 to 10 hours. After stew is cooked, mix together flour and water as directed above, stir into stew, and cook on high heat, stirring constantly, for 5 or 10 minutes, or until thickened.
Tips:
- Use a heavy pot or Dutch oven to cook the stew, as it will help to evenly distribute the heat and prevent the beef from sticking.
- Sear the beef in batches before adding it to the pot. This will help to brown the beef and add flavor to the stew.
- Use a variety of vegetables in the stew, such as carrots, potatoes, onions, and celery. This will add flavor and nutrients to the dish.
- Add a can of diced tomatoes to the stew. This will help to add flavor and acidity to the dish.
- Season the stew with salt, pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder. You can also add other spices, such as cumin, chili powder, or paprika, to taste.
- Simmer the stew for at least 1 hour, or until the beef is tender. This will allow the flavors to meld and the stew to thicken.
- Serve the stew over rice or noodles, or with a side of bread.
Conclusion:
Hawaiian beef stew is a delicious and hearty dish that is perfect for a cold winter day. It is easy to make and can be tailored to your own taste preferences. With its combination of beef, vegetables, and spices, Hawaiian beef stew is a surefire hit with the whole family.
