HEALTHIER SOUR CREAM BANANA DATE BREAD

Healthier Sour Cream Banana Date Bread image

This is my take on healthifying (is that a real word??) the super-popular Recipe #9351. I added dates and eliminated the sugar entirely, swapped out the white flour for whole wheat, and substituted grapeseed oil for half the butter. The result was a super moist loaf that was just sweet enough - the sweetness from the dates and bananas really shone through. It turned out so well I thought I would share.

Tips:

  • Use ripe bananas. The riper the bananas, the sweeter and more flavorful your bread will be.
  • Use a food processor or blender to puree the bananas and dates. This will help to create a smooth, even batter.
  • Don't overmix the batter. Overmixing can make the bread tough.
  • Bake the bread in a loaf pan that has been greased and floured. This will help to prevent the bread from sticking to the pan.
  • Let the bread cool completely before slicing and serving. This will help to prevent the bread from crumbling.

Conclusion:

This healthier sour cream banana date bread is a delicious and nutritious snack or breakfast option. It's made with whole wheat flour, oats, and natural sweeteners, so it's a good source of fiber and nutrients. The bread is also moist and flavorful, thanks to the bananas, dates, and sour cream. If you're looking for a healthier alternative to traditional banana bread, this recipe is a great choice.
