HEAVENLY SALAD

This is just what our family thinks of when we eat this recipe. This is a recipe that my mother, Ruth made when I was a child and has been one of my own children's favorites as well. This recipe gives me special memories of all the wonderful food my mother cooked when I was a child as well as today when we visit her home. I normally add extra sugar and red food coloring to make the dessert light pink. You can add sugar as you desire for a sweeter taste if you prefer.

HEAVENLY MACARONI SALAD

Heavenly Macaroni Salad image

Love macaroni salad. Always looking for a different way to make it. This one is good.

Provided by Joyce Lowery

Categories     Pasta Salads

Time 15m

Number Of Ingredients 10

1 c mayonnaise
1 tsp sugar
2 Tbsp vinegar
1 Tbsp mustard
1 tsp salt
1/2 lb macaroni, cooked and drained
1/4 tsp black pepper
1/2 c chopped red pepper
1/2 c chopped green pepper
1/2 c chopped green onions

Steps:

  • 1. Combine the ingredients for the dressing.
  • 2. Combine remaining ingredients.
  • 3. Stir in the dressing ingredients. Finally, cover and chill until ready to serve.

Tips:

  • Choose fresh, high-quality ingredients: The quality of your ingredients will have a big impact on the taste of your salad. Look for fresh, ripe fruits and vegetables, and use high-quality cheeses and nuts.
  • Wash your produce thoroughly: This is especially important for leafy greens, which can harbor bacteria. Rinse your fruits and vegetables under cold water before using them.
  • Dry your produce thoroughly: Wet produce will dilute the dressing and make your salad soggy. Use a salad spinner or pat your produce dry with a clean towel before adding it to your salad.
  • Use a variety of textures and flavors: A good salad should have a variety of textures and flavors. Include a mix of crunchy, soft, sweet, and savory ingredients.
  • Don't overload your salad: A few simple ingredients are all you need to make a delicious salad. Don't overload your salad with too many ingredients, or it will become difficult to eat and enjoy.
  • Dress your salad just before serving: Dressing your salad too early will make it soggy. Wait until just before you're ready to serve your salad to add the dressing.

Conclusion:

With these tips in mind, you can create delicious and satisfying salads that will help you reach your health goals. Salads are a great way to get your daily dose of fruits and vegetables, and they can also be a good source of protein and fiber. So next time you're looking for a healthy and delicious meal, reach for a salad!
