CAROLINA PANTHERS HOT CHILI CHEESE DIP

I make this to take to Super Bowl Parties when we are invited and always come home with an empty dish! I can not take credit for this dip. Years ago, while watching Good Morning America, they were having a cook-off and this was the one that won. I believe that it was a cook-off between Charlie, Diane and Robyn.

Number Of Ingredients 4

3-4 (8 oz.) cream cheese, soften
2 can(s) hormel chili with no beans
3 c sharp cheddar cheese, shredded
1/4 c chopped jalapeno peppers (i use diced green chilis in a can because my kids don't like it too hot)

Steps:

  • 1. Start off by spreading the cream cheese on the bottom of a 9x13" casserole dish then continue layering each ingredient, in order given and bake at 350 degrees until cheese has melted and had become bubbly on the sides.
  • 2. ***Optional. I like to add chopped tomatoes and chopped green onions on top AFTER I pull it out of the oven. (We also like it with sliced black olives as an addition to the top.)
  • 3. Serve with Tortilla Chips or Fritos!!!!

Tips:

  • Use a good quality cheese: A sharp cheddar cheese will give you the best flavor. You can also use a combination of cheeses, such as cheddar, Monterey Jack, and pepper Jack.
  • Don't overcook the chili: The chili should be cooked until it is just heated through. Overcooking will make the chili tough.
  • Use fresh ingredients: Fresh vegetables and herbs will give your dip the best flavor. If you can, use organic ingredients.
  • Let the dip cool slightly before serving: This will help to prevent the cheese from curdling.
  • Serve the dip with a variety of dippers: Tortilla chips, crackers, pretzels, and vegetables are all great options.
