As a young bride I didn't really know how to cook and lived in the Republic of Panama with my Military husband I relied on the other airmens wives for help learning to cook. I recived this recipe from one of the other airforce wives, it's easy to make and great for any Holiday, birthday party etc.

Number Of Ingredients 4

1 c corn syrup, light
1 c sugar
1 pkg jello (any flavor)
1 c unpopped corn

Steps:

  • 1. Pop popcorn in an air popper and set aside.
  • 2. Combine corn syrup, sugar and jello and boil for 3 minutes.
  • 3. Pour mixture over popcorn and shape into balls. Just change the flavor jello for different Holidays.

Tips:

  • Use fresh popcorn for the best results. Stale popcorn will not hold together as well.
  • If you don't have a candy thermometer, you can test the jello mixture by dropping a small amount into a bowl of cold water. If it forms a soft ball, it is ready.
  • Be careful not to overcook the jello mixture. If it gets too hot, it will lose its ability to hold its shape.
  • Work quickly when dipping the popcorn balls into the jello mixture. The mixture will start to set quickly, so you don't want to waste time.
  • If you want to add sprinkles or other decorations to your popcorn balls, do so immediately after dipping them in the jello mixture. The decorations will adhere better to the wet jello.
  • Store the popcorn balls in an airtight container at room temperature. They will keep for up to 2 weeks.

Conclusion:

Jello popcorn balls are a fun and easy treat that can be enjoyed by people of all ages. They are perfect for parties, picnics, or just a snack at home. With a few simple ingredients and a little bit of time, you can make delicious jello popcorn balls that everyone will love.
