CHOCOLATE CHIP KAHLUA® PECAN PIE

Chocolate Chip Kahlua® Pecan Pie image

Kahlua®, pecan, and chocolate pie; that is the perfect autumn desert. The chocolate chips don't make it too sweet and add just the right texture to a pecan pie. The Kahlua® tastes better if you let the pie sit for a day or two. This is not just your typical pecan pie. You can substitute Kahlua®-flavored coffee syrup for the Kahlua® liqueur, if desired. Serve warm or at room temperature.

Time 1h25m

Yield 16

Number Of Ingredients 10

2 unbaked deep dish pie crusts
2 cups chocolate chips, divided
2 cups pecan halves, divided

½ cup butter, melted
2 tablespoons vanilla extract
1 cup coffee-flavored liqueur (such as Kahlua®)

Yield Serves 8 to 10

Number Of Ingredients 12

1/2 cup sugar
1/4 cup ( 1/2 stick) unsalted butter, room temperature
1 tablespoon all purpose flour
3/4 cup dark corn syrup
1/4 cup Kahlúa or coffee liqueur
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
3 large eggs
1 cup chopped pecans
1/2 cup semisweet chocolate chips
1 purchased frozen deep-dish 9-inch pie crust
2/3 cup chilled whipping cream
Pecan halves (optional)

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 375°F. Beat sugar and butter in medium bowl until smooth; beat in flour. Gradually beat in corn syrup, then Kahlúa and vanilla. Mix in eggs, then chopped pecans. Sprinkle chocolate chips over bottom of crust. Pour filling into crust.
  • Bake pie until filling is puffed around edges and just set in center, covering edge of crust if browning too quickly, about 45 minutes. Transfer pie to rack and cool completely. (Can be prepared 1 day ahead. Cover and refrigerate.)
  • Beat cream in medium bowl until peaks form. Drop whipped cream in small dollops around edge of pie. Place pecan half atop each dollop, if desired.

Tips:

  • Use high-quality coffee liqueur for the best flavor. Kahlua is a popular choice, but you can also use other brands.
  • Chop the pecans into small pieces so that they are evenly distributed throughout the ice cream.
  • Don't overbeat the ice cream base. Overbeating can make the ice cream grainy.
  • Freeze the ice cream for at least 4 hours before serving. This will allow the flavors to meld and the ice cream to firm up.
  • If you don't have an ice cream maker, you can still make this ice cream. Pour the ice cream base into a freezer-safe container and freeze it for 4-5 hours. Every 30 minutes, take the container out of the freezer and stir the mixture. This will prevent the ice cream from becoming too icy.

Conclusion:

Kahlua pecan chunk ice cream is a delicious and easy-to-make dessert that is perfect for any occasion. With its rich coffee flavor, crunchy pecans, and creamy texture, this ice cream is sure to be a hit with everyone who tries it. So next time you're looking for a special treat, give this recipe a try. You won't be disappointed!
