KAREN'S PHILLY CHILI

Karen's Philly Chili image

This was a friend's recipe that I modified so much I now call it my own. It is great on chilly days, but we have it in the summer also. You can make it as hot as you like, but with 4 kids, I have to keep it on the mild side. With a nice warm loaf of home baked bread, it is a hearty meal.

A very healthy and extremely satisfying chicken soup. After always making my chicken soup in a traditional jewish style, I spent a week with my friend Karen G. in FL and learned her way to make it. For Passover I will make it the traditional way, but for once a month-this will be my new way! My kids, husband and mom love it!

  • Use high-quality ingredients for the best flavor. Look for fresh, ripe vegetables and good quality meat.
  • Brown the meat thoroughly before adding it to the soup. This will help to develop its flavor and prevent it from becoming tough.
  • Don't be afraid to experiment with different spices and seasonings. A little bit of heat from chili powder or cayenne pepper can go a long way.
  • Let the soup simmer for at least 30 minutes, or longer if you have the time. This will allow the flavors to meld and develop.
