KIELBASA PASTA SAUCE

I whipped up this spaghetti sauce one afternoon and was blown away by the flavor. The roasted red peppers complement the kielbasa and give the sauce a slightly smoky flavor. Serve over spaghetti.

Categories     Sauces

Time 15m

Yield 4-6 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 6

1 (12 -16 ounce) package kielbasa, sliced
1/2 red onion, diced
2 garlic cloves, minced
2 (15 ounce) cans tomato sauce
1 (1 ounce) packet Italian salad dressing mix
1 tablespoon sugar

Steps:

  • Put onion, garlic and sausage in sauce pan.
  • Brown until onion is almost transparent.
  • Add dressing mix and tomato sauce and sugar.
  • Simmer on low heat until pasta is done.

Tips:

  • Use high-quality ingredients: The better the ingredients, the better the sauce will be. Look for fresh, flavorful vegetables and high-quality kielbasa. Fresh spinach is always the best choice, but frozen will work in a pinch.
  • Don't crowd the pan when browning the meat: If you crowd it, the meat will steam instead of browning. This will result in a less flavorful sauce.
  • Cook the sauce on low heat for a long time: This will allow the flavors to develop and deepen.
  • Add some acidity to the sauce: This will help to balance out the richness of the kielbasa and cheese. A little bit of lemon juice, white wine, or red wine vinegar will do the trick.
  • Don't overcook the pasta: It should be cooked al dente, or slightly firm to the bite.
  • Serve with a sprinkle of Parmesan cheese: This will add a delicious finishing touch to the dish.

Conclusion:

Kielbasa pasta sauce is a hearty, flavorful, and easy-to-make dish that is perfect for a weeknight meal. It is also a great way to use up leftover kielbasa. Be sure to use high-quality ingredients and cook the sauce on low heat for a long time to allow the flavors to develop. Serve with a sprinkle of Parmesan cheese and enjoy!
