LIME GELATIN SALAD I

Lime Gelatin Salad I image

This is a great recipe my mom got from my aunt. She has made it every year for Thanksgiving. It is a family tradition for us. It can be made a day or two ahead of time, if you like. It looks just beautiful in a cut crystal bowl. Thanksgiving is not the same without it for us! We just 'gobble' it up! Chopped walnuts can be substituted for chopped pecans.

AMISH DRY LIME GELATIN SALAD / DESSERT (JELLO)

Amish Dry Lime Gelatin Salad / Dessert (Jello) image

Found on www.AmishDining.com. A recipe seldom gets any easier than this one. Kids could make this with just a bit of supervision. My mother used to make something like this that had these same ingredients. This is much like her's, and since she was not a dessert maker, I am sure she would have opted for a simple recipe. Other flavors of gelatin work too, like Cherry and Strawberry which are perfect for Valentine's Day. NOTE: Times do not include the 2-3 hours for chilling time. Servings are approximate.

LIME JELLO SALAD

Lime Jello Salad image

A favorite summertime (or anytime) jello salad of ours. Very refreshing. Great served as an accompaniment to a barbecue or a brunch.

Provided by Bobbie

Categories     Low Protein

Time 1h30m

Yield 8-10 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 7

1 (6 ounce) package lime Jell-O gelatin
1 1/2 cups hot water
cold water
8 ounces cream cheese, softened
12 ounces Cool Whip
20 ounces crushed pineapple, drained but save juice
1 cup chopped walnuts

Steps:

  • Combine jello and hot water; stir until jello is dissolved.
  • Add enough cold water to pineapple juice to equal ½ cup and stir into the jello. Chill until partially set; then whip with a mixer. Set aside.
  • In another bowl, beat the cream cheese. Add pineapple, beating briefly.
  • Fold in Cool whip and nuts - then combine with the jello mixture and chill until firm.

Tips:

  • Use fresh limes: Fresh limes provide the best flavor for this salad. If you can't find fresh limes, you can use bottled lime juice, but the flavor will be slightly less bright.
  • Dissolve the gelatin completely: Make sure the gelatin is completely dissolved before adding it to the other ingredients. Otherwise, you may end up with lumps of gelatin in your salad.
  • Chill the salad before serving: Chilling the salad for at least 30 minutes before serving allows the flavors to meld and the gelatin to set.
  • Garnish with fresh mint: Fresh mint adds a refreshing flavor and a pop of color to the salad.

Conclusion:

Lime gelatin salad is a classic dessert that is perfect for any occasion. It is easy to make, refreshing, and delicious. With its bright citrus flavor and creamy texture, this salad is sure to be a hit with everyone who tries it. So next time you are looking for a simple and delicious dessert, give lime gelatin salad a try. You won't be disappointed!
