I learned this recipe from a childhood friend whose mother made these for family parties and get-togethers. They are a great Christmas or special occasion cookie. My Mother makes hers with walnuts, I prefer pecans for a mini pecan pie taste.

NUT CUPS

This Nut Cups recipe is from my Great Aunt Millie. Alot of my families recipes were passed down from generation to generation. Several years ago, I revised my grandmothers recipes and added more of my own and my families and put them into a cookbook for safe keeping. This is just one of the many dessert recipes that has been handed down. I hope you enjoy them.

1 dash salt

  • Reduce heat to 250 degrees Fahrenheit and bake for 10 minutes or until done.

Tips for Making Perfect Nut Cups:

  • Choose the Right Nuts: Opt for fresh, flavorful nuts such as pecans, walnuts, almonds, or cashews. If using store-bought nuts, toast them in the oven for enhanced flavor.
  • Make a Smooth Caramel: For a silky smooth caramel, use a heavy-bottomed saucepan and stir constantly to prevent burning. Use a candy thermometer to ensure the caramel reaches the right temperature between 235-250°F.
  • Work Quickly: Caramel hardens quickly, so have your muffin cups ready before you pour the caramel. Once the caramel is ready, pour it into the cups and let it set before adding the chocolate.
  • Use Good Quality Chocolate: Choose a high-quality chocolate that melts easily for the best flavor and texture. You can use semisweet, dark, or milk chocolate, depending on your preference.
  • Temper the Chocolate: Tempering the chocolate ensures a smooth, shiny finish and helps prevent it from seizing. You can do this by melting the chocolate in a double boiler or using the microwave method.
  • Decorate Creatively: Once the chocolate has set, you can decorate the nut cups with a variety of toppings such as chopped nuts, sprinkles, or even edible glitter for a festive touch.

Conclusion:

With a few simple ingredients and a bit of patience, you can create delicious and impressive nut cups that are perfect for any occasion. These bite-sized treats are a great way to satisfy your sweet tooth and impress your friends and family. So next time you're looking for a sweet treat that is both easy to make and delicious, give these nut cups a try. They are sure to be a hit!
