- Mise en Place: Before you start cooking, make sure you have all the ingredients and equipment you need. This will help you stay organized and avoid scrambling.
- Use Fresh, High-Quality Ingredients: The quality of your ingredients will greatly impact the flavor of your meatloaf. Whenever possible, use fresh, high-quality ingredients.
- Use a Variety of Meats: Don't be afraid to experiment with different types of meat in your meatloaf. Ground beef is a classic, but you can also try ground pork, ground lamb, or even ground turkey.
- Season Generously: Don't be shy with the seasonings. Meatloaf is a great opportunity to experiment with different flavors. Use a variety of herbs and spices to create a flavorful dish.
- Don't Overwork the Meat: Overworking the meat will make your meatloaf tough. Mix the ingredients gently until they are just combined.
- Bake at a Moderate Temperature: Meatloaf should be baked at a moderate temperature (350°F) to prevent it from drying out.
- Let the Meatloaf Rest Before Slicing: Once the meatloaf is done baking, let it rest for 10-15 minutes before slicing. This will help the juices redistribute throughout the meatloaf and make it easier to slice.
