MAPLE PEPPER PECANS

I cannot, just cannot, allow myself to have even one of these as I'm setting them out or I know there will be none left for the party. They're best eaten still a little warm (though be careful that they're not hot or everyone will have a burnt mouth) though still very good cold and, as with the olives, make a good present, bunged into a jar and tied with a ribbon or somesuch.

Tips:

  • Choose fresh pecans. Fresh pecans will have a deep, brown color and a slightly oily sheen. Avoid pecans that are shriveled or have dark spots.
  • Toast the pecans before using. Toasting the pecans will bring out their flavor and make them more crunchy. To toast the pecans, spread them in a single layer on a baking sheet and bake at 350 degrees Fahrenheit for 10-12 minutes, or until they are golden brown and fragrant.
  • Use a good quality maple syrup. The quality of the maple syrup you use will have a big impact on the flavor of your pecans. Look for a maple syrup that is dark and amber in color and has a strong maple flavor.
  • Don't overcook the pecans. Overcooked pecans will be tough and chewy. Cook the pecans just until they are coated in the maple syrup and have reached your desired level of crunchiness.
  • Let the pecans cool completely before storing. This will help to prevent them from sticking together.

Conclusion:

Maple molasses pecans are a delicious and easy-to-make snack or topping for desserts. They are also a great gift for friends and family. With just a few simple ingredients, you can create a batch of maple molasses pecans that will be enjoyed by everyone.
