AUSTIN MARGARITA (AKA MEXICAN MARTINI)

Austin Margarita (aka Mexican Martini) image

After living in Austin Texas for 10 years, my husband and I perfected the perfect margarita. The secret to success is fresh fruit juice only and it doesn't use any pre-made mixes! Don't skimp and try buying juice. Squeeze it yourself or you won't get the best taste! If you are a real olive lover, add pimento stuffed olives and call it a 'Mexican martini'...delicious! and you won't confuse yours with anyone else's if you add 3 olives on a stirrer. :)

MARGARITA MARTINI

Margarita Martini image

Saw this very simple drink in Food Network Magazine and calling this a martini made me giggle. It's nothing fancy with ingredients most probably have on hand. The good part is that it will still make you as drunk as any of its martini or margarita counterparts.

  • Combine the tequila, lime juice and simple syrup in a cocktail shaker with ice. Grapefruit Margarita Martini image

I always make my cocktails with fresh pressed juice. I cannot afford any extra empty calories from store bought mixers, who can!! I have a commercial grade juicer so you may need to add extra juice if your hand squeezing since my juicer produces a lot of juice! I've had the grapefruit margarita at The Daily Grill on several occasions. Here is my martini version, enjoy!

Tips for Making the Best Margarita Martini:

- **Use Fresh Limes:** Always opt for fresh lime juice instead of bottled or pre-made mixes. The natural tartness of fresh limes adds a distinct flavor and aroma to the cocktail. - **Sweeten It Right:** For a classic margarita martini, use simple syrup or agave nectar as the sweetener. Triple sec or orange liqueur can also add a touch of sweetness and depth of flavor. - **Choose Your Tequila Wisely:** Select a high-quality tequila that is 100% agave. Blanco (silver) tequila is commonly used for a refreshing taste, while reposado (rested) or añejo (aged) tequilas impart a smoother and more complex flavor profile. - **Shake It Up:** Shaking the margarita martini with ice ensures that the ingredients are well-blended and chilled. If you don't have a cocktail shaker, you can use a jar with a tight-fitting lid. - **Garnish Elegantly:** A classic margarita martini is often garnished with a lime wedge or a lime twist. For a more elaborate presentation, you can also add a salted rim to the glass.

Conclusion:

The margarita martini is a versatile and delightful cocktail that combines the classic flavors of tequila, lime, and orange liqueur. Whether you prefer a traditional recipe or enjoy experimenting with variations, there's a margarita martini out there to suit every taste. Remember to use fresh ingredients, shake it well, and garnish it elegantly for an unforgettable cocktail experience. So, gather your ingredients, shake it up, and enjoy the perfect balance of tangy, sweet, and boozy flavors in every sip of your margarita martini!
