SLOW COOKER POT ROAST WITH MALBEC (RED WINE)

Slow Cooker Pot Roast with Malbec (Red Wine) image

I love the convenience of the slow cooker but I do not care for the sodium content by using cream of mushroom soup etc. Sadly many of today's recipes call for the can of soup. I have tried many recipes over the years and adjusted them and this is the result. Please do use the wine, most of the alcohol dissipates with the cooking.

Tips:

  • Choose the right cut of beef: Chuck roast or stew meat are good options for this recipe, as they are tough cuts that will become tender when cooked slowly in the crock pot.
  • Brown the beef before cooking: Browning the beef before adding it to the crock pot will help to develop its flavor and give the dish a richer color.
  • Use a good quality red wine: The wine you use in this recipe will have a big impact on the flavor of the dish, so choose a wine that you enjoy drinking.
  • Add plenty of vegetables: Vegetables such as carrots, onions, and celery add flavor and nutrition to this dish. You can also add other vegetables, such as potatoes or mushrooms, if you like.
  • Season the dish well: Be sure to season the beef and vegetables generously with salt and pepper. You can also add other herbs and spices, such as thyme, rosemary, or garlic powder, to taste.
  • Cook the dish on low for 8-10 hours: This will allow the beef to become very tender and the flavors to meld together.
  • Serve the dish over mashed potatoes, rice, or noodles: This will help to soak up the delicious sauce.

Conclusion:

This crock pot beef and carrots in wine is a delicious and easy-to-make dish that is perfect for a weeknight meal. The beef is fall-apart tender and the sauce is rich and flavorful. Be sure to give this recipe a try the next time you are looking for a hearty and comforting meal.
