Tips:

  • Choose the right sweet potatoes: Look for firm, unblemished sweet potatoes that are about the same size so they cook evenly.
  • Use fresh sage: Fresh sage has a more intense flavor than dried sage, so it's worth seeking out if you can find it.
  • Don't overcrowd the pan: When roasting the sweet potatoes, make sure they're in a single layer so they can cook evenly.
  • Roast the sweet potatoes until they're tender: The sweet potatoes are done roasting when they're tender when pierced with a fork.
  • Make the glaze while the sweet potatoes are roasting: This will give the glaze time to thicken and develop flavor.
  • Brush the sweet potatoes with the glaze: Brush the sweet potatoes with the glaze several times during the last 10 minutes of roasting so they get a nice caramelized coating.
  • Garnish with pecans and fresh sage: Before serving, garnish the sweet potatoes with chopped pecans and fresh sage leaves for a pop of color and flavor.

Conclusion:

Molasses glazed sweet potatoes with sage pecans are a delicious and easy side dish that's perfect for any occasion. The sweet potatoes are roasted until tender and then glazed with a sweet and tangy molasses glaze. The sage pecans add a nice crunch and flavor contrast. This dish is sure to be a hit with your family and friends.
