Time 2h

Yield 8

Number Of Ingredients 8

1 recipe pastry for a double-crust 9-inch pie, divided
5 cups fresh blueberries (preferably wild)
½ cup white sugar
¼ cup all-purpose flour
½ teaspoon ground cinnamon, or more to taste
¼ teaspoon almond extract
¼ cup butter, cut into small pieces
1 tablespoon milk

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C). Press 1 pie crust pastry into the bottom and sides of a 9-inch pie pan.
  • Stir blueberries, sugar, flour, and cinnamon together in a large bowl. Add almond extract; stir to coat. Pour blueberry mixture into the prepared pie crust. Dot the blueberry mixture with butter pieces. Top with second pie crust, crimping the two crusts together. Brush top crust with milk. Make a few incisions with a knife into the top crust to allow steam to escape during baking. Wrap the edges of the pie with aluminum foil to avoid burning.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for 25 minutes. Remove foil, and continue baking until blueberry filling is bubbling and crust is browned, 20 to 25 more minutes. Cool before serving.

MYSTERY PIE

We have had this pie every holiday for as long as I can remember! It is super easy and yummy yummy yummy!!!

Provided by Darla Sloan

Categories     Pies

Time 45m

Number Of Ingredients 7

3 egg whites at room temperature
1 c sugar
14 soda crackers, crushed
1 tsp baking powder
1 c chopped pecans plus a few more for topping
1 tsp vanilla extract
1 tub cool whip

Steps:

  • 1. Preheat oven to 350*. Beat egg whites until foamy. Gradually add sugar and beat until stiff.
  • 2. Fold in crackers, pecans, baking powder and vanilla.
  • 3. Pour in buttered 9 inch pie plate, bake for 30 minutes. Let cool completly then top with cool whip and reserved pecans.

Tips:

  • Choose ripe and flavorful berries: This will ensure that your pie has the best possible flavor. If you're using frozen berries, thaw them completely before using.
  • Use a variety of berries: This will give your pie a more complex flavor and texture. Some good combinations include strawberries and blueberries, raspberries and blackberries, or a mix of all three.
  • Don't overfill the pie crust: This will prevent the filling from bubbling over and making a mess. Leave about 1/2 inch of space between the filling and the edge of the crust.
  • Bake the pie until the crust is golden brown and the filling is bubbling: This usually takes about 45-50 minutes. You can check if the pie is done by inserting a toothpick into the center of the filling. If it comes out clean, the pie is done.
  • Let the pie cool for at least 30 minutes before serving: This will allow the filling to set and the flavors to meld together.

Conclusion:

Berry pies are a classic summer dessert that can be enjoyed by people of all ages. They are easy to make and can be customized to your own taste. With a little bit of planning, you can make a delicious berry pie that will be the star of your next party or gathering.
