OKTOBERFEST PORK ROAST

Oktoberfest Pork Roast image

This recipe was adapted from one my mom used to make when I was growing up. It has all of our favorite "fall" flavors, such as apples, pork roast, sauerkraut and potatoes. I often coat the slow cooker insert with cooking spray to prevent the potatoes and meat from sticking.-Tonya Swain, Seville, Ohio

Tips:

  • Choose the right pork roast: Look for a pork roast that is at least 5 pounds, with a good amount of marbling. This will ensure that the roast stays moist and flavorful during cooking.
  • Score the pork roast: Scoring the pork roast helps the seasonings penetrate deeper into the meat, resulting in a more flavorful roast.
  • Use a flavorful rub: The rub is what gives the pork roast its flavor, so be sure to use a rub that you enjoy. There are many different Oktoberfest pork roast rubs available, so you can find one that suits your taste.
  • Cook the pork roast slowly: Pork roast is a tough cut of meat, so it needs to be cooked slowly to become tender. Cook the roast at a low temperature for several hours, or until the internal temperature reaches 145 degrees Fahrenheit.
  • Let the pork roast rest: Once the pork roast is cooked, let it rest for 15-20 minutes before carving. This allows the juices to redistribute throughout the roast, resulting in a more tender and flavorful meat.

Conclusion:

Oktoberfest pork roast is a delicious and festive dish that is perfect for any occasion. It is easy to make and can be tailored to your own taste. With a little planning, you can make a pork roast that will be the star of your next party.
