Tips:

  • For the best results, use fresh oranges. The zest and juice from fresh oranges will give your cookies a brighter flavor than store-bought orange extract.
  • If you don't have a citrus zester, you can use a fine grater to remove the zest from the oranges.
  • Be sure to cream the butter and sugar together until light and fluffy. This will help to create a tender cookie.
  • Don't overmix the dough. Overmixing will make the cookies tough.
  • Chill the dough for at least 30 minutes before baking. This will help to prevent the cookies from spreading too much in the oven.
  • Bake the cookies until the edges are just beginning to brown. Overbaking will make the cookies dry.
  • Let the cookies cool completely on a wire rack before frosting them.

Conclusion:

Orange slice cookies are a classic holiday treat that are easy to make and always a crowd-pleaser. With their bright citrus flavor and festive appearance, these cookies are sure to be a hit at your next holiday party. So next time you're looking for a delicious and easy holiday cookie recipe, give orange slice cookies a try!
