A crispy coating mix is the secret ingredient that dresses up these baked hamburgers. You bake them in the oven instead of grilling or frying. I like to use a sweet and spicy steak sauce for the best flavor. -Mike Goldman, Arden Hills, Minnesota

I haven't tried this yet, but am putting it here so I don't lose it! The directions say to place on an ungreased baking pan, however I think I will put on a rack in a 9x13-inch pan--that grease has to go somewhere.

Tips for Making Perfect Oven-Baked Burgers:

  • Choose the Right Ground Beef: Opt for 80/20 ground beef for a juicy and flavorful burger.
  • Season Wisely: Use a combination of salt, pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, and Worcestershire sauce for a classic burger flavor.
  • Shape Gently: Handle the ground beef mixture gently to avoid compacting it, which can result in tough burgers.
  • Create a Well: Make a small indentation in the center of each burger to prevent them from puffing up during baking.
  • Bake at a High Temperature: Bake the burgers at a high temperature (400°F or 200°C) to quickly sear the outside and lock in the juices.
  • Use a Meat Thermometer: Ensure the burgers are cooked to your desired doneness by inserting a meat thermometer into the thickest part of the patty.
  • Rest Before Serving: Let the burgers rest for a few minutes before serving to allow the juices to redistribute.

Conclusion:

Oven-baked burgers are a healthier and more convenient alternative to traditional pan-fried burgers. They offer a juicy and flavorful patty without the added grease and mess. By following these tips and experimenting with different seasonings and toppings, you can create delicious and customizable oven-baked burgers that will satisfy your cravings. Whether you prefer classic cheeseburgers, veggie burgers, or something in between, oven-baked burgers are a versatile and enjoyable meal option for any occasion.
