Loaded Baked Potato Salad image

Number Of Ingredients 7

8 medium Potatoes

This is AMAZING! It's from the All Recipes Cookbook. You can kind of decide if it's a salad or a casserole. To me it's best potato casserole I think I've ever tasted! I had to pull myself away from the pan and kitchen all together or I'd still be in there stuffing my face! This has been altered a tad for my taste...do as you see fit :)

Tips:

  • Choose the right potatoes. Russet potatoes are the most common type of potato used for potato salad, but you can also use Yukon Gold or red potatoes. Russets have a high starch content, which makes them fluffy and light when cooked. Yukon Golds are a bit creamier and have a slightly sweet flavor. Red potatoes have a thin skin and a waxy texture that holds its shape well in salads.
  • Cook the potatoes until they are tender but not overcooked. Overcooked potatoes will be mushy and fall apart in the salad. To check for doneness, insert a fork into the center of a potato. If it goes in easily, the potato is done.
  • Cool the potatoes completely before adding them to the salad. This will help to prevent the salad from becoming watery.
  • Use a variety of ingredients in your salad. This will add flavor and texture. Some common ingredients include celery, onion, hard-boiled eggs, and pickles. You can also add cooked bacon, ham, or chicken.
  • Dress the salad with a mayonnaise-based dressing. This is the most common type of dressing for potato salad. You can also use a vinegar-based dressing or a yogurt-based dressing.
  • Chill the salad before serving. This will help to set the flavors and make the salad more refreshing.

Conclusion:

Potato salad is a classic summer dish that is perfect for potlucks, picnics, and backyard barbecues. It is a versatile dish that can be made with a variety of ingredients, so you can easily customize it to your own taste. With a little planning and preparation, you can make a delicious potato salad that will be the hit of your next party.
