I used to microwave baked potatoes for about half the cooking time and finish them off in the toaster oven. My better half said they had steamed taste-not like real baked. I found this recipe in one of the many cooking magazines that I subscribe to (not sure which one).

Tips for Perfect Baked Potatoes with Crusty Skin:
- Choose the right potatoes: Russet potatoes are the best choice for baking because they have a high starch content, which helps them to become fluffy on the inside and crispy on the outside.
- Scrub the potatoes well: This will remove any dirt or debris from the skin.
- Prick the potatoes with a fork: This will help the steam to escape during baking, preventing the potatoes from bursting.
- Rub the potatoes with oil: This will help the skin to become crispy.
- Bake the potatoes at a high temperature: This will help to create a crispy skin and a fluffy interior.
- Don't overcrowd the baking sheet: Give the potatoes enough space so that they can circulate air and cook evenly.
- Bake the potatoes until they are tender: You can check this by inserting a fork into the center of the potato. If it goes in easily, the potato is done.
Conclusion:
Baked potatoes are a delicious and versatile side dish that can be enjoyed with a variety of toppings. With the right technique, you can achieve a perfectly baked potato with a fluffy interior and a crispy skin. Follow these tips and tricks to make the perfect baked potato every time.
