For your next pizza night at home, make Bobby Flay's homemade Pizza Dough recipe from Food Network, and finish it with your favorite toppings.

Provided by Bobby Flay

Time 1h30m

Yield 2 (14-inch) pizza crusts

Number Of Ingredients 6

3 1/2 to 4 cups bread flour, plus more for rolling
1 teaspoon sugar
1 envelope instant dry yeast
2 teaspoons kosher salt
1 1/2 cups water, 110 degrees F
2 tablespoons olive oil, plus 2 teaspoons

Steps:

  • Combine the bread flour, sugar, yeast and kosher salt in the bowl of a stand mixer and combine. While the mixer is running, add the water and 2 tablespoons of the oil and beat until the dough forms into a ball. If the dough is sticky, add additional flour, 1 tablespoon at a time, until the dough comes together in a solid ball. If the dough is too dry, add additional water, 1 tablespoon at a time. Scrape the dough onto a lightly floured surface and gently knead into a smooth, firm ball.
  • Grease a large bowl with the remaining 2 teaspoons olive oil, add the dough, cover the bowl with plastic wrap and put it in a warm area to let it double in size, about 1 hour. Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface and divide it into 2 equal pieces. Cover each with a clean kitchen towel or plastic wrap and let them rest for 10 minutes.

Tips:

  • For the best results, use high-quality ingredients. Fresh, high-gluten flour, active dry yeast, and cold water will yield the best dough.
  • Always activate your yeast before using it. This will help ensure that the yeast is alive and active, which will help the dough rise properly.
  • Be patient when making pizza dough. The dough needs time to rise and develop flavor. Rushing the process will result in a tough, dense crust.
  • Handle the dough gently. Over-working the dough will make it tough. Just knead it enough to bring it together and form a smooth ball.
  • Let the dough rest before shaping it. This will help the dough relax and make it easier to work with.
  • When shaping the dough, use your hands to gently stretch and form it into a circle. Don't roll the dough out with a rolling pin, as this will make the crust tough.
  • Bake the pizza at a high temperature. This will help create a crispy crust and prevent the pizza from becoming soggy.

Conclusion:

Making pizza dough at home is a rewarding experience that can be enjoyed by people of all ages. With a little practice, you can create delicious, restaurant-quality pizza in your own kitchen. So what are you waiting for? Get started today!
