Number Of Ingredients 5

1 1/2 pounds fresh green beans, end removed, snapped in half and washed
3 to 4 slices bacon cut into 1-inch pieces
1/3 cup diced onion
Salt, pepper and garlic powder to taste
1/2 cup water

Steps:

  • Cook bacon in the bottom of the pressure cooker. Towards the end of cooking the bacon, add the onions and sauté for another minute or so. Add green beans and toss with the bacon so that the beans are lightly coated with some of the bacon grease. Add water. Cook beans for 5 minutes under pressure according to your pressure cooker directions. Season to taste.

Tips:

  • Choose fresh green beans: Look for beans that are bright green in color and have no blemishes. Avoid beans that are wilted or have brown spots.
  • Trim the green beans: Before cooking, trim the ends of the green beans. You can also remove the strings from the beans if desired.
  • Use a variety of seasonings: Green beans can be seasoned with a variety of herbs and spices. Some popular options include salt, pepper, garlic, onion, and bacon. You can also add other vegetables to the pot, such as carrots, celery, or potatoes.
  • Cook the green beans until they are tender: The cooking time will vary depending on the type of green beans you are using. Fresh green beans will cook more quickly than frozen or canned green beans. You can check the beans for doneness by piercing them with a fork. They should be tender but still have a slight crunch.
  • Serve the green beans immediately: Green beans are best served immediately after they are cooked. You can garnish them with fresh herbs or a squeeze of lemon juice.

Conclusion:

Green beans are a versatile and delicious vegetable that can be cooked in a variety of ways. Pressure cooking is a great way to cook green beans because it is quick and easy. You can have a pot of perfectly cooked green beans on the table in just a few minutes. So next time you're looking for a quick and easy side dish, give pressure cooker green beans a try.
