SPICED PRUNE COOKIES

Spiced Prune Cookies image

These cookies come from the (now deceased) mother of a friend. My copy of the recipe is in her handwriting and is very much a treasure. Most people believe that the cookie contains dates, not prunes. I don't bother to correct most. They are so good; why spoil it for them? (hehe)

Tips:

Ingredients Matter: - High-quality prunes: Plump and moist prunes contribute to the flavor and texture of the cookies. - Freshly chopped pecans: Adds a nutty flavor and crunch. - Brown sugar: Provides moisture and a rich caramel flavor. 2. Plump Up the Prunes: - Soaking prunes in hot water or coffee enhances their flavor and makes them easier to blend. 3. Mixing Method: - Be careful not to overmix the dough, as this can result in tough cookies. - Gently fold in the pecans at the end to maintain their shape and texture. 4. Chilling the Dough: - Chilling the dough before baking allows the flavors to meld and helps the cookies hold their shape. 5. Measuring Flour Accurately: - Use a kitchen scale to measure flour for precise results. Avoid scooping flour directly from the bag, as this can lead to variations in measurement. Conclusion: Prune pecan cookies combine the delightful flavors of sweet prunes, crunchy pecans, and warm spices. With their soft and chewy texture, these cookies are a delightful treat for any occasion. By following these tips and using high-quality ingredients, you can easily create a batch of delectable prune pecan cookies that will satisfy your sweet cravings.
