CONFETTI WHITE PUPPY CHOW
This is a variation of a cake batter puppy chow mix. I like to bring this to gatherings because it is too addictive to keep at home! I like to use Crispix® for the shape, but you can use rice or corn Chex®. Store this in a sealed zipper bag or plastic container.

Steps:
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees. If using Irresistable Peanut Butter Cookies recipe bake at 375 degrees.
- In a large bowl, combine cookie ingredients as directed on package or according to your own recipe instructions.
- Shape dough into 1" balls (about 2 1/2 tsp) and place 2" apart on an ungreased cookie sheet.
- Bake about 8 minutes (at this time I just slightly press on cookie and return to oven for 2 more minutes) or until the edges a lightly golden brown (do not over cook or they will crumble in chocolate) cool for 2 minutes on cookie sheets them remove to cooling rack and cool completely.
- In a bowl, microwave chocolate chips, peanut butter and butter uncovered on high in one minute intervals, stirring after each minute, until it is combined and smooth, stir in vanilla.
- In a gallon size ziploc bag place 1 1/2 c powdered sugar; set aside.
- In a large bowl place 12 cooled cookies, pour 1/3 of chocolate mixture over cookies in bowl, with a rubber spatula carefully toss cookies to coat with chocolate (they do not have to be completely coated in chocolate) Place cookies six at a time in powdered sugar bag and gently turn to coat cookies.
- Shake excess powdered sugar off and place on cooling rack to set up.
- Repeat with 12 more cookies and 1/2 of remaining chocolate mixture; repeat again until all cookies have been coated, adding more powdered sugar to bag if you run out.
- *If you are using your own recipe, it may yield more or less cookies so make sure you have enough chocolate mix and powdered sugar to coat. The Irresistible Peanut Butter Cookies recipe makes a bit more, but I just top extra's with granulated sugar and skip steps 5+. Betty Crocker's cookie mix will make 3 dozen, which is what this recipe is based on*.

Steps:
- 1. Place a piece of parchment paper on a large cookie sheet for the final results. Set aside.
- 2. In a heavy saucepan or microwave (30 seconds at a time), melt 12 oz of CandyQuik, be careful to melt it slowly to avoid burning.Stir constantly. Once melted and easy to stir, remove from heat, add vanilla and stir well.
- 3. Put dry cereal in large mixing bowl, I use the largest Tupperware bowl they have! The more space you have to stir the easier it will be.
- 4. In a small bowl mix powdered sugar and spices, mix well.
- 5. Pour the warm CandyQuik slowly over the dry cereal and gently toss to coat. It takes many tosses so you have to be patient as it covers the cereal. Immediately add the powdered sugar/spice mix and gently toss over cereal until evenly coated.
- 6. Turn the coated cereal out on to the parchment covered cookie sheet. Distribute the coated cereal evenly over the cookie sheet. Let cool, at least 2 hours. Package in gift bags or store covered on counter. Enjoy!

Steps:
- In a saucepan over low heat melt the chocolate chips and add peanut butter.
- Mix until smooth.
- Remove from heat, add Crispix and stir until coated.
- Pour powered sugar into a large plastic bag, add coated Crispix and shake until well coated.
Tips
- Choose the right cereal. Chex cereal is the classic choice, but you can also use other cereals, like Corn Flakes, Rice Krispies, or Cheerios.
- Use fresh ingredients. The fresher the ingredients, the better the puppy chow will taste. Use real butter, not margarine, and use high-quality chocolate chips.
- Don't overmix the puppy chow. Overmixing will make the cereal soggy. Mix it gently until the cereal is evenly coated.
- Let the puppy chow cool completely before storing it. This will help the chocolate to set and prevent the puppy chow from becoming sticky.
- Store the puppy chow in an airtight container at room temperature. Puppy chow will keep for up to 2 weeks in an airtight container.
Conclusion
Puppy chow is a delicious and easy-to-make snack that is perfect for parties, potlucks, and picnics. It is also a great way to use up leftover cereal. With so many different variations, there is a puppy chow recipe for everyone. So what are you waiting for? Give one of these recipes a try today!
