A dark, moist old-fashioned muffin, full of fruit. A recipe from a torn and tattered 1984 magazine insert of "Old Family Favourites". I usually double the batch and freeze some for a quick breakfast on the go.

Tips:
- Use a combination of raisins and dates for a more complex flavor.
- Soak the raisins and dates in hot water for 10 minutes before adding them to the batter. This will help to plump them up and make them more flavorful.
- If you don't have buttermilk, you can make your own by adding 1 tablespoon of lemon juice or vinegar to 1 cup of regular milk. Let it sit for 5 minutes before using.
- Be sure to grease the muffin tins well before filling them with batter. This will help to prevent the muffins from sticking.
- Fill the muffin tins about 2/3 full. If you fill them too full, the muffins will rise too much and may overflow.
- Bake the muffins at 375 degrees Fahrenheit for 20-25 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
- Let the muffins cool in the muffin tins for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
Conclusion:
Raisin or date bran muffins are a delicious and healthy breakfast or snack. They are easy to make and can be customized to your liking. With a few simple tips, you can make perfect raisin or date bran muffins every time.
