Time 1h14m

Yield 1 loaf, 8 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 10

3 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1/2 cup grated parmesan cheese
1/4 cup snipped fresh chives
1 ounce packet Hidden Valley Original Ranch Seasoning Mix
1 tablespoon baking powder
1/2 cup Greek yogurt
1 tablespoon olive oil
4 -5 garlic cloves, minced
1/2 cup finely chopped shallot
12 ounces beer (room temperature)

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 375°F.
  • In a small saute pan, cook shallot and garlic with oil until caramelized; allow to cool.
  • In a large mixing bowl, mix together flour, Parmesan cheese, chives, Ranch seasoning mix, baking powder, yogurt, and shallot/garlic mixture. Stir in room temperature beer until smooth and pour batter into a well-greased loaf pan.
  • Bake at 375°F for 60-70 minutes or until top is golden and a toothpick comes out clean. Allow to sit 10 minutes in the pan, then remove and cool on a wire rack.

Tips:

  • Use a good quality bread: A sturdy bread like a baguette or ciabatta will hold up well to the garlic butter and cheese, and will provide a nice crispy crust.
  • Don't be afraid to be generous with the garlic butter: The garlic butter is what really makes this garlic bread sing, so don't be shy about it. Use a full stick of butter, and don't be afraid to add more if you think it needs it.
  • Use fresh garlic: Fresh garlic has a much more intense flavor than dried garlic, so it's definitely worth the extra effort to use it. If you don't have fresh garlic, you can use 1/4 teaspoon of garlic powder, but it won't be as good.
  • Let the bread rest: After you've brushed the bread with the garlic butter, let it rest for a few minutes before baking. This will allow the butter to soak into the bread and give it a chance to rise.
  • Bake the bread at a high temperature: The high temperature will help to create a crispy crust and will also help to prevent the bread from drying out.

Conclusion:

Garlic bread is a classic side dish that is perfect for any occasion. It's simple to make, and it's always a crowd-pleaser. Whether you're serving it with spaghetti and meatballs, chili, or just a salad, garlic bread is sure to be a hit. So next time you're looking for a quick and easy side dish, give garlic bread a try.
