1 cup whole pecans
3 egg whites
1 cup sugar
1 teaspoon vinegar
1 pinch salt

Steps:

  • Read the whole recipe before beginning, try to do together Saturday night before Easter Sunday.
  • Preheat oven to 300 degrees.
  • You need: Mixing bowl, Wooden spoon, Bible, Zipper baggie, Waxed paper, Cookie sheet, Tape.
  • Place pecans in zipper baggie and let children beat them with the wooden spoon to break into small pieces.
  • Explain that after Jesus was arrested, He was beaten by the Roman soldiers.
  • Read John 19:1-3.
  • Let child smell the vinegar.
  • Put 1 tsp into mixing bowl.
  • Explain that when Jesus was thirsty on the cross, He was given vinegar to drink.
  • Read John 19:28-30.
  • Add egg whites to the vinegar.
  • Eggs represent life.
  • Explain that Jesus gave His life to give us life.
  • Read John 10:10-11.

This is a great way to teach children about the resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ. This may look like a lot of steps but well worth it to teach children the real story of Easter.

1 c whole pecans
1 tsp vinegar

pinch salt
1 c sugar
1 ziplock bag
1 wooden spoon
scotch tape
bible

Steps:

  • 1. These are to be made the evening before Easter. Preheat oven to 300 degrees F. (This is very important....DO NOT WAIT TILL YOU ARE HALF WAY DONE WITH THE RECEIPE) Place pecans into ziplock bag and let the children beat it with the wooden spoon to break into small pieces.   • 2. Let each child smell the vinegar. Put 1 teaspoon into mixing bowl. Explain that Jesus was thirsty on the cross and He was given vinegar to drink. Read John 19:28-30
